Roo-Weekly Update 10.26.15

Good Evening Roosevelt International Middle School Families:

Dr. Casillas here with your weekly school update.

Thank you families for participating in this year’s Back to School Night. It was a great turn out. We enjoyed meeting each of you.  A question I was frequently asked was about the math pathways offered. We have linked the district’s math information, as well as a FAQs. You can find the information on our website, under Academics and Common Core.

On November 3rd-5th, we will have individual parent conferences. This will be a modified day with dismissal time at 1:24 for all of our students. Please contact your student’s teacher if you would like to schedule a parent conference.

8th grade families: we have an 8th grade Information Night this Tuesday October 27th  at 5:00 pm in our Auditorium. Come learn about promotion requirements and Community Project expectations.

Thank you to those families for returning your completed Federal Survey Cards. We are still missing about 291 Federal Survey Cards. We are striving for a 100% return. Please get those cards in.

Save the Date. November 19th.  In celebration of National Parent Involvement Day, parents/guardians are invited to our Shadow Your Student Day. Come watch your student learning in action. Also, you can pre-order a special Western BBQ lunch to eat with your child.  More information to come.

Parents, we need your help to keep our children safe.  Please be careful with your vehicles at morning drop off and afternoon pick up as students cross the street.

We are looking for a few volunteers to assist with the Scholastic Book Fair scheduled for December. If you are interested, please contact our PTSA.

This Friday, students may come to school in costume following the guidelines attached to the email.
Students not wearing costume must come to school in uniform.

Have a great week of learning Rough Riders. Always do your best by working hard and making good choices.
Until next time, good bye and good night.

Roo-Weekly Update 10.5.15

Good Evening Roosevelt International Middle School Families.

Dr. Casillas with your weekly school update.

Happy October. Our first month of school ended completely engaged in teaching and learning. Students understand the expectations, procedures and routines of being successful in an IB learning community. It is up to each student, with our support, to demonstrate Roughrider PRIDE-personal responsibility in daily excellence. This week on RooTube, we reminded students about appropriate behavior not only at school but on their way to and from school. Students please review your planner and Roosevelt’s dress code policy. It is important that you come to school dressed for success in Roosevelt uniform.

This Wednesday, students will be bringing home the Federal Survey Card. These cards are important, as every year, our district receives $8 million in Impact Aid funding based on the information you provide. Please return the cards as soon as possible. We need your help to receive the federal funds.

Eighth Graders turned in their Community Project Proposals and all seem excited. On Thursday, we will have a special Advisory schedule to meet their Community Project Supervisors and 6th  and 7th graders will engage in a service learning activity. Dismissal time will be as normal at 2:28 or at 3:30 pm for those with 7th period. Do not forget, PTSA Trick-or Trot Run is coming up. Students were sent home sponsor sheets.
